Conexant to Acquire Sierra Imaging

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 25 -- Conexant Systems Inc. announced that it will purchase Sierra Imaging Inc. of Scotts Valley Calif. Conexant said that the acquisition would allow it to offer a more complete digital image-processing solution for digital camera manufacturers.
In order to offer what it calls a complete camera solution, Conexant will make use of such Sierra products as: the back-end digital-image processor; Siera's image-management software; and Sierra's front-end complementary metal-oxide semiconductor image sensors. Sierra, which will continue to operate out of Scotts Valley, will work with Conexant's Personal Imaging Division.
