ESI Lands $7-Million Order from Nanya
PORTLAND, Ore., May 31 -- Nanya Technology Corp. has placed a $7-million order with Electro Scientific Industries Inc (ESI). The multiple-unit order is for ESI's Model 9350 memory yield improvement systems. The systems will be shipped over an eight-month period to Nanya's facility in Taoyuan, Taiwan.
With ESI systems, we continue to experience superior machine performance, higher output and better yield, said Ken Hurley, president of Nanya's US operations. According to Hurley the systems will be used to bolster capacity for the production of 64-MB, 128-MB and 256-MB dynamic random access memory, and to ramp the company's second fast atom beam later this year.
In order to provide cleaner link cuts with higher yields; the Model 9350 employs a 1.3-micron laser to create the widest process window capability for the metal memory link that materials use in advanced memory products.
