Solar-Powered Mobile Device For Severe Events

When Hurricane Harvey made landfall last August, solar technology developer Sol Cuff Technologies fulfilled its first order: 33,600 portable chargers for the Texas Army National Guard.

The company’s sales surge after every natural disaster because of the vulnerabilities of the electric-power infrastructure. The technology allows power to flow to four LED lights and a micro-USB 5-V charging port embedded in the Sol Cuff, making it ideal for emergency responders and stranded civilians who need to charge their phones.

"Being without power really puts a strain on you, a stress on all your resources," said Lawrence Boysen, co-founder of Sol Cuff. "It creates a challenge to keep your devices powered, especially when you're trapped and need to stay in touch with family.

Sol Cuff is a developer of solar-powered mobile device chargers.
