Pappas Joins SemiNex

Semiconductor laser manufacturer SemiNex Corp. has appointed Seth Pappas as product engineer to drive product development in laser diode packaging and processing.

“We are excited to have Seth as our new product engineer,” said David Bean, president of SemiNex. “With Seth’s 20 years of experience in the photonics business, his diverse skills in product and test development will provide a fresh perspective to our company and drive innovation and value to our customers.”

Pappas will act as project liaison between the company and its vendors. He will manage and support various operations, such as failure analysis, production, vendor support, and process management, as well as implement a new test station for high-resolution and far-field divergence data for customers with specific ellipticity requirements. Pappas will further introduce new systems to improve product marking and traceability for much of the SemiNex production line.

Pappas holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Boston University and was awarded a research fellowship in MEMS technology. He has held roles at Coretek Inc., Adaptive Optics, Boston Micromachines Corp., Noblepeak Vision Corp., Infrared Laboratories, and L3 Insight Technology.

“I am honored to be a part of the SemiNex Corp. team,” said Pappas. “This company is well-run and efficient, making its selection of products affordable and readily accessible to our many customers. I look forward to working with the SemiNex team and our vendor partners, and satisfying our customers with the best InP laser diodes.”

SemiNex manufactures high-power IR diode lasers for military, medical, cosmetic, and dental applications.
