Sampat Joins Edmund Optics
Nitin Sampat has been appointed a senior vision solutions engineer for the imaging business unit of optical component developer Edmund Optics Inc.
Nitin joins Edmund with more than 25 years of experience designing and developing industrial imaging and machine vision systems. In this new role, he will be responsible for selling and supporting standard and custom imaging and machine vision products.
“Nitin brings years of technical expertise and a commitment to customer success to his new position,” said Gregory Hollows, vice president of Edmund’s imaging business unit. “Because Nitin has an in-depth understanding of clients’ needs, he can provide our customers with the answers and innovative solutions they need to successfully deploy their projects on time and within budget.”
Before joining Edmund, Nitin was a professor in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, where he taught and conducted research in the areas of color science, image processing, imaging quality, and photography. He has previously worked at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, Questra Corp., and Hewlett-Packard Research Labs. Nitin has also consulted extensively at companies around the globe. In addition, he is a founder of ColorYoke Inc., a company offering color matching solutions to the art reproduction market. Nitin has a master’s degree in imaging and photographic science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and bachelor’s and business administration degrees from the University of Bombay in India.
