JDS Uniphase Announces Plans to Acquire Casix

JDS Uniphase Corp. of Nepean, Ontario, Canada, has announced an agreement to purchase Casix Laser Inc. of Fuzhou, Fujian, China, which will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. Other terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Casix supplies components for optical networking applications. Its products include YVO₄ and LiNbO₃ crystals, pigtails and jumpers, collimators, isolators and polarization beamsplitters. It also manufactures or processes optical elements such as filters, wave plates and prisms, and applies antireflective coatings to optical elements.
