Polaroid Sells Laser Business

Boston Laser Inc. of Norwood, Mass., has agreed to purchase the laser diode development and manufacturing business of Polaroid Corp. of Cambridge, Mass., in a cash and securities exchange. It will acquire patents, assets and licenses from Polaroid.

Boston Laser produces high-power laser diodes for applications in telecommunications, medicine, optical data storage and graphics. Polaroid developed its series of lasers for application in its medical diagnostic imaging systems.
