Siemens Optical Regenerators to be Re-sold by Hitachi
ATLANTA, June 8 -- Siemens Information and Communications Networks Inc. has approved an agreement between its subsidiary, Optisphere Networks Inc., and Hitachi Telecom (USA), in which Hitachi Telecom will be allowed to re-sell Siemens' TransXpress Infinity Optical Service Node (OSN) Regenerator. The companies expect revenues to reach $15 million during this fiscal year because of the agreement. The companies also announced the success of an interoperability test between Siemens' TransXpress Infinity long-haul transport system and Hitachi's AMN 5192 OC-192 SONET four-fiber BLSR system.
The OSN regenerator is signal format transparent and can regenerate any optical signal. Interexchange carriers and other long distance fiber optic users with high-speed, long haul transmission networks use the product.
