GE Medical Acquires Equity Stake in Israeli Company

WAUKESHA, Wis., June 9 -- GE Medical Systems has acquired an equity position in Imarad Imaging Systems Ltd. The investment gives GE Medical a minority share in Imarad Imaging Systems and is expected to speed up the availability of Imarad's solid state detector technology by cementing relations between the companies.
Imarad Imaging Systems is an Israeli-based private developer of an advanced detector technology called Cadmium zinc telluride (CZT), used in nuclear medicine cameras. CZT is based on solid state detector technology, which is expected to advance the field of nuclear medicine.
We feel that Imarad's position in CZT gives us a technological edge, said Beth Klein, global general manager of the Nuclear and PET business at GE Medical Systems. This collaboration builds upon our companies' strong relationship and is the next logical step in the advancement of this promising technology, with the winner ultimately being our clinical customers.
Shimon Klier, chairman and CEO of Imarad Imaging Systems Ltd. said, Having GE Medical as an investor confirms the progress we've made in this exciting technology and shortens the communication channels between supplier and customer. We are very optimistic about the growth of our company and technology, and are motivated by the support of a global leader in medical imaging.
