SDL and SIEMENS Agree to Product Exchange
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 16 -- SDL Inc. has finalized a deal in which it will supply high-speed optical modulators in return for SIEMENS Information and Communication Networks Group's 10 Gb/s dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission systems. SDL's UK-based subsidiary, Integrated Optics Ltd, manufactures the optical modulators.
SDL and SEIMENS have been working together for the past year to supply high-speed modulators for the qualification and increased production of their 10 Gb/s DWDM fiber optic transmission system.
This agreement results from a close working relationship with SIEMENS, our technical expertise in high speed modulators, and our ability to qualify and quickly ramp production of these high performance products, said Michael Murphy, marketing manager of SDL Integrated Optics. SIEMENS is a key player in this market segment and we are delighted to be associated with them. We believe the cooperation between the two companies is key to enable rapid deployment of new bandwidth solutions for voice, data and Internet traffic.
