CoreComm Picks Corning for Fiber-to-the-Home Networks

CORNING, N.Y., June 22 -- CoreComm Ltd. has chosen Corning Inc. to furnish fiber, cable, hardware and fiber management systems throughout CoreComm's fiber to the home (FTTH) broadband services network. Corning will supply products and services throughout CoreComm's placement of FTTH broadband services in several cities around the US, said Corning.
CoreComm will begin by setting up FTTH in multiple-dwelling units in cities where the company currently operates, including Chicago, Cleveland, and Columbus. Within the next several months CoreComm anticipates providing services in Detroit, New York, and Boston as well. The process will include several thousand kilometers of Corning InfiniCor and SMF-28 fibers and associated fiber management systems, said CoreComm.
