The Optical Society Schedules Virtual Quantum Conference for September
The first OSA
Quantum 2.0 conference, an all-virtual event scheduled for Sept. 14-17, 2020, will feature presentations by scientists, engineers, and others who are working to advance quantum science and practical quantum technologies. The conference will be held concurrently with the all-virtual OSA Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science APS/DLS. Participants can access both conferences with one registration. The conference meetings will be available at no cost to registrants.
The following keynote speakers will cover technological advances and discuss what’s needed to commercialize products based on Quantum 2.0:
- Ignacio Cirac, director of the Theory Division at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich.
- Marissa Giustina, senior research scientist and quantum electronics engineer in the Google AI Quantum Lab (U.S.).
- Mikhail Lukin, co-director of the Harvard Quantum Initiative in Science and Engineering and co-director of the Harvard-MIT Center for Ultracold Atoms (U.S.).
- Gregoire Ribordy, co-founder and CEO of ID Quantique (Switzerland).
Keynote talks are scheduled for 10:00-10:45 a.m. EDT, Sept. 14-17.
Technical sessions will be presented live and will be recorded and archived for on-demand viewing. Topic areas will include Quantum Computing and Simulation; Quantum Communication Systems; Quantum Metrology and Sensors; Hybrid Systems; Quantum Interconnects; Quantum Photonic Sources and Detectors; Integrated Optics Quantum Platforms and Devices; and Optical and Laser Technology for QIST Systems.
In a panel titled “Workforce Development in Quantum Science and Technology” on Tues., Sept. 15, 3:45-4:45 p.m. EDT, industry and academic leaders will discuss new approaches for training current and future quantum engineers.
Conference registration is now open.
