Precision optical components developer and manufacturer EKSMA Optics will move to a new 23,950-sq-ft (7300-sq-m) facility. The complex will house the Lithuanian company’s headquarters, allowing EKSMA to remain based in the city of Vilnius.
Construction on the site is scheduled to be completed this year. The company currently operates its manufacturing facilities and headquarter offices in separate locations in Vilnius. Those facilities will move to the new location.
The company said enlarged cleanroom capacity will increase optical component assembly throughput and serve as a base for new critical-performance product development. Further, EKSMA said, the manufacturing plant’s development will help the company focus on expanding its key technological capabilities: the deposition of dielectric coatings for laser optics and crystals, and the manufacturing of aspherical lenses, spherical lenses, and freeform optics.
The company said its total investment in the expansion is approximately $17.97 million (€15 million).
