DUBLIN, Calif. — Active lidar system provider AEye appointed Hod Finkelstein chief R&D officer. Finkelstein previously served as CTO of Sense Photonics, where he led the company’s development of lidar technology. He began his career at Intel designing early Pentium chips, and he later led efforts in semiconductor technology at Mellanox Technologies. Finkelstein has also worked as director of technology development at Illumina, and he served as CTO for TruTag Technologies.

DRESDEN, Germany — Fraunhofer FEP named Elizabeth von Hauff head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology (FEP). Additionally, von Hauff was appointed to the Technical University of Dresden as chair for coating technologies for electronics. Von Hauff serves as an associate professor of physics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She was named professor by special appointment of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics in Energy Conversion at the Faculty of Science of the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on novel technologies for electronics, energy technology, and sensor technology.

SEATTLE — Machine vision and meta-optics company Tunoptix appointed technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist George Lauro to its board of directors. Lauro has been a board member of more than a dozen semiconductor/MEMS sector companies.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Superresolution microscopy pioneer Eikon Therapeutics named Alfred Bowie CFO. Bowie previously served as vice president of corporate and business development at Veracyte. Before joining Veracyte, he served as senior director of corporate development and strategy at Foundation Medicine, a subsidiary of Roche. He previously held positions at Tecan Group and Danaher Corp.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Semiconductor technology company Ayar Labs expanded its executive team with the addition of Rory McInerney as executive adviser and Terry Thorn as vice president of business development. McInerney previously served as corporate vice president of Intel, where he worked for 29 years. Thorn, who spent 24 years at Intel, previously served as GM of global accounts in Intel’s Cloud & Enterprise Sales Group.
