Alcatel Secures Contract in Turkey
PARIS, July 25 -- Alcatel, an international presence in the telecommunications and Internet markets, has landed a contract from Turk Telekom to provide equipment and services for a high-speed transmission network throughout Turkey on a turnkey basis. The 128 million Euro contract is part of the largest call for tender ever issued by Turk Telekom for transmission systems, the company said. The network, based on synchronous digital hierarchy technology, will connect 38 cities throughout Turkey and will be deployed within the next two years.
Alcatel will supply the carrier-class Optinex multi-service nodes, providing bandwidth from 155 Mb/s up to 10 Gb/s and enabling Turk Telekom to meet the combined challenges of increased IP service demand and network flexibility. It also includes an efficient Network Management System to optimize traffic control and routing at all network levels.
