Novanta Establishes Novanta IMS

After closing on its acquisition of Schneider Electric Motion (SEM), Novanta is renaming the acquired company Novanta IMS. Novanta acquired SEM in August for $115 million. The acquisition will bring Novanta into the automation and robotic applications markets through advanced motion control systems. The move also increases its opportunities in the life sciences and medical markets, Matthjis Glastra, CEO and chair of Novanta, said in August.

“We have been committed to developing innovative motion control solutions since we were founded in 1986 as Intelligent Motion Systems, so our new name Novanta IMS is a nod to our roots,” said Eric Klein, general manager at Novanta IMS.

Novanta IMS will work closely with Celera Motion, a provider of motion control components and subsystems for OEMs serving a variety of medical and advanced industrial markets.
