Basler Joins 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation
Basler AG joined the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) as its first member from the machine vision sector. The alliance aims to bring together various industries from the information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) sectors to develop standards for 5G. It intends to promote further technological development and simplify cooperation between different IT/OT providers across industries and national borders.
“We are convinced that 5G will be an important building block in the further development of Industry 4.0 communication and IoT or IIoT connectivity. 5G will become an important wireless communication technology and standard in industry, opening doors for new use cases such as vision for mobile robots or for preventive maintenance,” said René von Fintel, director of products business at Basler. “As an image processing specialist, we would like to help ensure that the ever-growing field of computer vision is an active participant.”
