Sputtering Yields 3200-GHz Filter
Advanced Lighting Technologies Inc. of Cleveland has announced that its subsidiary
Deposition Sciences Inc. of Santa Rosa, Calif., has produced a 3200-GHz optical bandpass filter using its reactive sputtering coating technology. The filters will be incorporated into the IsoFilter product line for wavelength division multiplexing applications. A qualification program is under way with potential customers.
The company plans to develop 200- and 100-GHz filters for the telecommunications industry using the metal oxide sputtering technique. It hopes to produce thin-film filters with higher yields and at bandwidth coverage the same as or better than those produced using evaporation or ion-assisted evaporation coating technology.
