Zebra Technologies Names Burns CEO
Zebra Technologies, whose barcode and fixed industrial scanning, mobile computing, and industrial machine vision systems support intelligent automation solution, has named its current chief for product and solutions officer, Bill Burns, as its next CEO. Burns will additionally become a member of the Zebra board of directors.
The leadership change will be effective March 1, 2023. Also on March 1, current CEO Anders Gustafsson will become executive chair of the company’s board.

Burns has more than 30 years of experience in the technology sector. He served as CEO of Embrane, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital-backed startup, which was acquired by Cisco, and as CEO of Spirent Communications, a provider of test and measurement solutions. Burns has held various executive and sales leadership roles at Tellabs Inc. For the past seven years, Burns has been part of Zebra’s executive leadership team, including in his current role for nearly five years.
Zebra acquired advanced machine vision components, software, and systems developer
Matrox Imaging in June, less than one year after it acquired intralogistics automation company and autonomous mobile robots developer Fetch Robotics.
