Tyco Licenses Fujikura to Produce Optical Interconnects
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 9 -- Tyco Electronics Corp., a segment of Tyco International Ltd., has signed a licensing agreement with Fujikura Ltd. for the production of AMP Lightray MPX interconnection system products. With this licensing agreement the companies have succeeded in multi-sourcing the fiber optic backplane interconnection product line, which is used in the telecommunications and advanced networking markets.
This agreement strengthens the Lightray MPX interconnection system as a solution for the increased demand for system-level packaging, and the multiple source requirements of the communications marketplace, said Rodd Ruland, director of marketing and business development for the Fiber Optic Division of Tyco Electronics. We are very pleased to have Fujikura as a licensee for this product, based upon their expertise in fiber optics and MT ferrule technologies.
