Hesai and CRATUS Partner on Lidar-Based Warehouse Solution

Hesai Technology, a provider of lidar solutions, has partnered with lidar systems software integrator CRATUS to develop autonomous warehouse solutions using Hesai’s safety-rated 3D lidar. Hesai’s QT128 lidar solution will feature as the lead sensor in CRATUS’ new lidar perception package for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

To date, AGVs and AMRs have mostly used 2D laser scanning devices that provide only a limited amount of perception data. Compared to 2D lidar, which typically uses only one laser channel, QT128 has 128 laser channels. It also offers a 360º horizontal FOV compared to 270º or less from traditional devices. This eliminates blind spots, allowing AGVs to avoid potential safety risks caused by “not seeing.”
CRATUS and Hesai will also release a series of drivers, middleware, and end solutions centered around the QT128 lidar sensor that aim to hasten the adoption rate of 3D lidar within the material handling sector and unlock possibilities for robotic applications within the warehouse.
