Messe Stuttgart Cuts Stand-Alone LASYS Industry Trade Fair
LASYS, the international trade fair devoted to laser materials processing advancements, will not be held as a stand-alone event, according to its organizers, Messe Stuttgart. The show, established in 2008, served as a premier showcase for industrial laser technology following the advent of fiber laser technology.
In a statement posted online, Messe Stuttgart said technological development has advanced rapidly since the show’s debut, with EUV (extreme-ultraviolet) lasers increasingly becoming a focal point of interest.
“Lasers, optics, and photonics are still extremely important for Messe Stuttgart. We want to use our networks to transform our contacts and give the topic areas a platform they deserve,” said Sebastian Schmid, vice president of Messe Stuttgart, in the online posting.
With the elimination of LASYS as a stand-alone event, Messe Stuttgart plans to feature special areas and technical program content at its retained trade fairs and exhibitions, Schmid said. He cited Quantum Effects, NORTEC, AMB, VISION, TecStyle Visions, wetec, and Moulding Expo.
LASYS ran June 21-23 last year. It had been held on an every-other-year basis, in conjunction with the Stuttgart Laser Technology Forum, which is scheduled for June 2024.
