Optical Solutions to Acquire Ziga Systems
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 20 -- Optical Solutions Inc. is set to acquire Ziga Systems Corp., an engineering company that provides platforms that carry third-party network applications and services at increased speeds. Optical Solutions will acquire both human and technological resources from Ziga Systems as part of the agreement. This includes Ziga's 12 hardware and software design engineers, and certain proprietary technology related to fiber-to-the-home, which is the basis of Optical Solutions' FiberPath line of products.
This strategic acquisition will allow us to both accelerate our product development path and attract a wider base of customers, said Optical Solutions chairman and CEO Darryl E. Ponder. We anticipate tremendous growth in our company over the next several months, and this acquisition is an important building block toward getting there.
Optical Solutions is a privately held company that develops its proprietary FiberPath solutions to deliver voice, video and high-speed data to the home.
