X-Rite Obtains Tunable Laser Technology
GRANDVILLE, Mich., Sept. 25 -- X-Rite Inc. has acquired the assets of the HoloVision Products Group of Veridian-ERIM International for an undisclosed sum. The group's products are based on tunable laser technology and are used to map the surfaces of physical objects. X-Rite and Veridian-ERIM International have also agreed to get together to work out new applications for this type of technology.
This acquisition represents one of many investments we will be making in new technology and new markets for X-Rite, said Rich Cook, the company's president and CEO. XR Ventures L.L.C. will manage the further development of this technology and apply it to fast growth markets enabling X-Rite to return to its more traditional growth rates.
This type of technology could potentially have applications in a wide range of markets such as electronic component evaluation, micromachines, the biomedical market other markets that require high-resolution noncontact vision, X-Rite said.
X-Rite is a producer of sophisticated measurement devices, systems and processes for a variety of corporations and institutions worldwide.
