Alfalight Expands in Canada
MADISON, Wis., Oct. 2 -- Citing increased demand for its high-power laser diodes, Alfalight Inc. has acquired a facility in Canada for the sole purpose of providing laser diode packaging and customized packaging services for its existing customers. Alfalight's vice president of Canadian Operations, Richard Murison, will head the new facility.
We have already assembled an exceptional high-power laser development team, and are now complementing this with a world-class packaging facility, Murison said. The demand for these products is expected to significantly exceed supply for the next five years, and packaging capacity will remain the limiting factor in the industry. Alfalight develops high-power laser diodes for the optical communications market. The company's new facility will be fully operational by the end of 2001, said Alfalight.
