Spectra-Physics Buys Solid-State-Laser Manufacturer
Spectra-Physics announced that it has purchased
Laser Analytical Systems GmbH of Stahnsdorf, Germany, in a cash transaction. Laser Analytical Systems will become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mountain View, Calif.-based company. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Laser Analytical manufactures solid-state lasers and accessories, including technology for ultraviolet light production. Patrick L. Edsell, chairman, president and CEO of Spectra-Physics, suggested that the move will lead to improved UV sources for the production of fiber Bragg gratings and for semiconductor wafer inspection.
