Schwartz Electro-Optics Announces New Management Team
Schwartz Electro-Optics Inc. of Orlando, Fla., said that board member Darrell Kelley, president of the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida, has replaced the late Bill Schwartz as chairman. After Schwartz died in July, his wife, Pat Schwartz, was elected to the board of the privately owned laser company and board member James M. Sellers was named interim CEO.
Kelley said that the company would continue the strategy begun by Schwartz for growth and acquisition of technology and intellectual property of laser systems. During the last year, Schwartz Electro-Optics bought South Plainfield, N.J.-based Applied Optronics Corp., a manufacturer of laser diodes, and formed subsidiary GigaNet Technologies Inc., which is developing technology for global telecommunications.
