Paradigm Medical Gets FDA Approval for Photon Workstation

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 12 -- The US Food and Drug Administration has given Paradigm Medical Industries Inc. permission to add a laser module to its Photon Workstation platform in order to perform additional eye surgery procedures.
The ultrasound portion of the Photon is already approved for cataract surgery, said Tracy Best, director of regulatory affairs. By incorporating this new laser modality, the eye surgeon for the very first time, can perform multiple eye surgical procedures such as glaucoma surgical filtering procedures, diabetic surgical procedures, retinal procedures, pigmented and venous lesion procedures, along with traditional cataract removal in a single device.
