Advanced Photonix Wins Additional UK Orders
CAMARILLO, Calif., Oct. 20 -- Advanced Photonix Inc.'s German distributor took a follow-on order from Optos PLC, located in Dunfermline, Scotland, worth $360,000 for LAAPD cooled detectors. The detectors are used in the Optos Panoramic 200 Ophthalmoscope, which uses Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope technology. This follow-on order brings the total orders from Optos to $560,000 for the current calendar year.
The SLO technology incorporated in the Panoramic 200 utilizes a low powered laser beam which scans the retina two dimensionally, said Brock Koren, president and CEO of Advanced Photonix. Light reflected from the retina is detected by our LAAPD and transformed into a digital computer image. The LAAPD works well for this application due to its large active area, high quantum efficiency and low dark current.
