StockerYale Forms Tunable Optical Filter Unit

SALEM, N.H., Nov. 7 -- Citing the telecommunications industry's increasing demand for bandwidth, StockerYale Inc. will invest in a subsidiary business called Optune Technologies that will develop a new class of tunable optical filters (TOFs). The investment in the TOFs represents a step toward creating the components needed for the reconfigurable, all-optical networks of the future, said StockerYale. Nicolae Miron, a research scientist for StockerYale, will head the venture.
With Dr. Miron's proven track record in research and development, I am confident that he will successfully lead the charge in the development of this innovative approach to optical filtering, said Alain Beauregard, president and chief technology officer of StockerYale. His cutting-edge technology will be key contributing factors to the further development of optical communications.
StockerYale provides optical communication components and specializes in illumination products.
