PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 10 -- Greg Olsen will receive the first Aron Kressel LEOS award given to individuals who have made important contributions in the field of optoelectronic device technology. Olsen was chosen for his work toward advancing the use of indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) detectors in the field of telecommunications as well as in other practical fields. Olsen, founder and president of Sensors Unlimited Inc., will receive the award at LEOS 2000, the annual meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, which will be held from Nov. 13th to the 16th in Puerto Rico.
We are pleased to present this award to Dr. Olsen in recognition of his pioneering contributions in the development and commercialization of InGaAs detectors for communications and sensing applications, said Gordon Day, president of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society.
