Level 3 Wins $700 Million in Dark Fiber, Services Contracts
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov 30 -- Level 3 Communications Inc., a communications and information services company, has signed new fiber optic services agreements with service providers in North America and Europe worth more than $700 million. These new orders bring annual sales of the dark fiber and associated services agreements to about $2 billion, the company said. Operation and maintenance services to the dark fiber represent about 50 percent of the value of these contracts. The company said it plans to recognize the revenue over the course of the agreements, which typically last for 15 to 20 years.
