Sumitomo Metals Changes Name, Unveils New Processor
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 7 -- As a result of its joint venture with Japan-based Photron Inc., the Image Processing LSI Division of Sumitomo Metals has changed its name to i-Chips Technology Inc. The former division of Sumitomo Metals is known in the US for its image processing and video scaling ICs. The newly formed company will focus on expanding the current product lines of image processors, frame memory controllers and image scalers, with new product releases soon to be announced.
The new company has also unveiled its new image scaling processor, the IP00C715, its most advanced processor yet in the company's SCREEN family of scaling devices. The new processor can perform image scaling and frame rate conversion at data rates up to 230 Megapixels/sec.
