GT Group Telecom Amplifies Quebec network
OTTAWA, Canada, Dec. 8 -- GT Group Telecom Inc. will expand its high-speed fiber optic network in the province of Quebec. The company has landed two separate deals giving it fiber optic capacity over a 650-km area between Montreal and Quebec City, via Sherbrooke. Terms of the agreements, which were with Cable-Axion Digital Inc. and Cable-Axion Quebec Inc., were not disclosed.
Group Telecom will also deploy a 30-km network in the city of Sherbrooke by April 2001 with Reseau d'Informations Scientifiques du Quebec. Group Telecom will attain alternative fiber optic routes between Montreal and Quebec City through Trois Rivieres as a result of the agreement.
