LightPath Adds to Automated Capacity at Horizon Photonics

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Dec. 13 -- LightPath Technologies Inc., manufacturer of collimator assemblies and other optical telecommunications products, has finished the expansion of an automated manufacturing facility at Horizon Photonics Inc., a subsidiary of LightPath Technologies located in Walnut, Calif. The 10,000-sq-ft facility is used to produce isolators and develop optical assemblies. Horizon's component packaging capabilities are based on its recently issued US patent covering its automated fabrication platform for micro-optics.
Horizon has also named Joseph E. Sauvageau as its new chief technology officer. Sauvageau has experience as a scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and has developed optoelectronic components and manufacturing processes for Motorola.
We are truly pleased with our expansion efforts during the first six months after our merger with LightPath, said Bob Cullen, president of Horizon Photonics. We now have the capacity and automated packaging experience in place to execute on our ramping orders from both existing and new OEM customers. In addition, our engineering talent is focusing on flexible manufacturing platforms that will allow a rapid segue to next-generation components and subassemblies.
