Lucent Expands R&D Effort with Five New Labs
MURRAY HILL, N.J., Dec. 20 -- In its bid to move resources closer to customers, Lucent Technologies has recently opened five new Bell Labs facilities. Lucent can now claim a research and development presence in 30 countries. The most recent additions are located in Australia, China, Greece, India and Italy.
Establishing these facilities demonstrates Lucent's long-term commitment to moving our research and development resources closer to our growing global customer base, said Arun Netravali, president of Bell Labs. It also allows us to hire the talented minds if scientific researchers around the world, who are critical to our success.
Three of the new labs will support the growing mobile Internet market, Lucent said.
