Metrologic Instruments Acquires Adaptive Optics
BLACKWOOD, N.J., Dec. 28 -- Metrologic Instruments Inc., a maker of barcode scanning systems, will acquire Adaptive Optics Associates Inc. (AOA), a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. located in Cambridge Mass., for $19 million worth of sock.
Acquiring AOA is a significant opportunity for Metrologic to combine AOA's vision-based expertise and technical resources with Metrologic's laser-based technology to better serve our industrial scanning customers, said C. Harry Knowles, CEO of Metrologic. AOA brings us convergent technologies, which will further strengthen our position as a leader in high-speed, automated image and data capture.
