Keystone Set for Earth Mission

Hughes Aircraft Co. has delivered the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer to NASA for its Mission to Planet Earth program.
The instrument will provide a wide field of view of the Earth in 36 spectral bands from the visible to the far-infrared. It will measure Earth's land, oceans and atmosphere for scientific studies of the planet's ecosystems.
The spectroradiometer is now at the Lockheed Martin facility in Valley Forge, Pa., where technicians will integrate it with NASA's Earth Observation System spacecraft. It is scheduled for launch in June 1998.
