Aeroflex Wins $12 Million in Fiber Optic Assembly Orders

PLAINVIEW, N.Y., Jan. 2 -- Aeroflex Inc. has received contracts from two fiber optic module manufacturers for microelectronic thin-film assemblies worth more than $12 million. The thin-film assemblies are used in advanced OC-48 and OC-192 receivers, transmitters and lithium niobate modulators. The orders will ship throughout the next nine months, said Aeroflex.
The fiber optic device arena has clearly emerged as our single fastest growing market segment, said John Buyko, senior vice president for Aeroflex microelectronics. We are extremely pleased to be able to add to the impressive momentum we established in this important market during calendar year 2000. These most recent awards reflect our proven ability to deliver full service solutions to the leading OC-48, OC-192 and developing OC-768 DWDM component OEM's.
Aeroflex designs, develops and manufactures microelectronics and automated testing solutions for the broadband communications market.
