Spectrian Sells UltraRF Division to Cree
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 2 -- Spectrian Corp. has turned over its UltraRF semiconductor division to Cree Inc. in exchange for about 1.8 million shares of Cree common stock and $30 million worth of Cree shares. Included in the deal was a two-year supply agreement in which Cree will supply Spectrian with RF power semiconductors, as well as a one-year joint development agreement to create technologies that have to do with laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductors (LDMOS), linear high-gain LDMOS driver modules, high efficiency LDMOS power modules and SiC MESFET components.
Cree is a developer and manufacturer of semiconductor materials and devices based on silicon carbide, gallium nitride and related compounds. Spectrian is a supplier of ultra linear, high-power RF amplifiers and semiconductors for the wireless communications industry.
