ICON, Asclepion-Meditec Ink Strategic Partnership

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada, Jan. 10 -- ICON Laser Eye Centers Inc. and Asclepion-Meditec AG of Germany have signed a letter of intent to enter into a strategic supplier agreement. the deal will help ICON expand its presence in the laser vision correction (LVC) industry within North America and Europe, the company said.
ICON will purchase an initial quantity of MEL 70 G-Scan lasers and receive access to the latest developments in excimer laser vision correction, including recent custom ablation system additions based on topography and wavefront technology. In addition, ICON will conduct US Food and Drug Administration studies with Asclepion, and be granted access to Asclepion's newest custom ablation and wavefront packages. Further details will be released after both parties reach a definitive agreement.
