Veeco Wins Order for e-Beam System for AR Coatings
PLAINVIEW, NY, Jan. 11 -- Veeco Instruments Inc. has received a multiunit order for its new Spector e-beam system from a leading manufacturer of active optical telecommunications components. The systems will be used in the production of high throughput anti-reflective (AR) coatings for DWDM filters and optical isolators. AR coatings are deposited to prevent loss in the transmission of light through a fiber optic communication line.
The Spector is a fully automated system, with one-touch operation, based on the core technology of Veeco's Spector IBD system. It features a high energy RF ion source assist to provide dense optical films and control, as well as excellent repeatability and uniformity. It is a versatile evaporation system that is easily configurable to suit a wide range of optical coating processes, including DWDM filters, optical isolators, fiber facets, variable optical amplifiers, optical cross connects, edge filters and coarse WDM filters.
