Dominion Semiconductor Orders ESI Laser Equipment
PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 31 -- Electro Scientific Industries Inc. announced that Dominion Semiconductor, of Manassas, Va., has purchased another ESI Model 9350 Laser Semiconductor Processing System. Dominion will use the laser-processing tool to manufacture high-performance semiconductor memory devices for use in advanced home entertainment products. The system will ship during ESI's fiscal third quarter.
The Model 9350 uses a 1.3-µm-wavelength laser to provide critical process window capability for metal memory link materials, allowing high levels of energy to be used to remove metal links without damaging the surrounding silicon, said ESI. The result is cleaner link cuts with higher yields.
