JDS Uniphase Acquires Optical Process Automation
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Feb. 23 -- JDS Uniphase Corp. has acquired Optical Process Automation, Inc. (OPA) in a transaction accounted for as a purchase. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. With headquarters in Melbourne, Fla., and operations in Asheville, N.C., OPA designs and manufactures automated and semi-automated systems for the manufacture of fiber optic components and modules. OPA will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of JDS Uniphase.
"The acquisition of OPA represents an important move in our global manufacturing strategy," commented Jozef Straus, JDS Uniphase CEO and co-chairman. "OPA has a very talented group of people and a strong management team, which we expect will serve us well in developing higher and more diverse levels of automation in our manufacturing processes."
