Furukawa to Expand WDM System Production
TOKYO, Feb. 26 -- Furukawa Electric Co Ltd. said it plans to spend $88 million to boost output of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical-fiber systems. The money will be used to build a plant in Thailand and set up a new production line at an existing plant in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo. Production of components such as semiconductor laser modules, which will be exported mainly to the US, will begin in June.
