Burleigh Stresses Importance of Automation at OFC 2001
Anaheim, Calif., March 21 -- Burleigh Automation Inc., an affiliate of EXFO, announced the launch of the new VectorPlace Ultra-High Precision Pick-and-Place Platform at OFC 2001.
The VectorPlace platform is a fully automated assembly solution for optical component manufacturers. It uses as many as four manipulator robots to seamlessly assemble optical sub-components up to sub-micron accuracy in order to provide a scalable throughput solution and cycle-time improvement.
"Automation is the key to increasing optical component production and making it more cost-effective," said David Farrell, president of Burleigh. "With the VectorPlace platform, manufacturers benefit from a programmable, flexible workstation that lends itself to a number of fully automated fiber optic manufacturing applications, where high volume, a high level of mechanical accuracy and a high level of repeatability are of utmost importance."
