Corning Completes Acquisition of Tropel Corp.

CORNING, N.Y., March 21 -- Corning Inc. announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of 100 percent of the stock of Tropel Corporation. Located in Fairport, N.Y., Tropel makes precision optics and metrology instruments for the semiconductor and other industries.
Tropel, now known as Corning Tropel, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Corning, operating as a unit of the company's Specialty Materials division. John Bruning will remain president and CEO of the business. Corning Tropel's product lines of high-performance optical components, subsystems and optical metrology instruments will complement Corning's current portfolio of microlithography optical materials and allows the company to expand its commitment to the increasingly important semiconductor industry.
