Lambda Physik’s New Application Center to Provide State-of-the-Art Laser Material Processing Expertise

Lambda Physik has developed an application center – called Application Center Inc. – in order to provide material processing expertise for Lambda Physik and its customers. The services offered include technical support for Lambda Physik sales personnel at customer sites; laser material processing feasibility tests; laser material processing process development; laser material processing contract manufacturing and field service of MicroLas (Lambda Physik subsidiary) optical systems.

The new unit will focus on laser material processing services for potential Lambda Physik customers and existing clientele from the semiconductor/microelectronics industry, as well as the telecommunications, automotive and medical device industries.

"Lambda Physik Application Center will prove invaluable to companies producing state-of-the-art products that require precision machining of alterations where conventional machine tools cannot fulfill the task," said Mike Scaggs, president of the Application Center. "The Application Center will enable engineers to solve manufacturing problems or develop a new product using laser technology as opposed to conventional machining."

Lambda Physik Application Center delivers uncompromising precision by covering the spectrum from 157 to 1064 nm and offering positional accuracy to 1 µm and optical resolution capability to better than 2 µm over a 4 mm field of view. It will offer state-of-the-art equipment such as the NovaLine Flourine series laser, NovaLine 100 series laser, LPX210 and the Gator UV for in-house testing. A high-end MicroLas granite-based beam delivery system is also available for use with excimer lasers. A PowerGator DPSSL will be available soon, the company said.
