Lightconnect Inc., an innovator of MEMS components for optical networks, has added two senior executives to assist recently appointed president and CEO, Peter O. Clark, in building its optical components company. The appointments of Sushil Shah as vice president of Operations, and David Fenner as vice president of Finance, will significantly enhance the company's global management capabilities and accelerate plans to bring dynamic MEMS components to the optical marketplace, the company said.
Optical Cable Corp. announced record order input of $10.2 million for March, surpassing record highs achieved in late 2000. Despite traditionally being a "soft" month, the company said, March 2001 order input increased by 70 percent from March 2000. March's strong order flow brings Optical Cable's trailing 12 month order input to $87.4 million, exceeding the company's fiscal 2001 target of $86 million in orders.
Nidek Inc. announced that the US Food and Drug Administration has granted 510(k) clearance for the Optical Path Difference (OPD) Scan diagnostic system. Nidek's new OPD Scan is a state-of-the-art diagnostic instrument that combines Dynamic Skiascopy technology and Placido disk corneal topography to create unique refractive power maps that show the total optical system aberrations within the individual eyes of each patient.
