Candela Begins Shipping Diode Laser for Skin Renewal
WAYLAND, Mass., April 5 – Candela Corp. said that it has begun shipment of Smoothbeam, a diode-based skin renewal laser. The laser has received the necessary national and international safety approvals and certifications including UL for the United States, CE for Europe, CSA for Canada, and CB scheme, which is accepted in more than 39 countries.
"This shipment of a significant number of Smoothbeams is the first milestone in the sales history of this laser," said Gerard E. Puorro, Candela's president and CEO. "Its immediate, enthusiastic acceptance by physicians reinforces our premise that the market was looking for a skin renewal laser that was smaller, lighter, more affordable and easier to use than what was previously available. We expect the Smoothbeam to lead the market by filling an important role in the physician's aesthetic laser capability."
